A case of uneven wear on Toyota's 1-year-old tires
Q: In April 2010, I purchased four new Cooper touring tires for my 2007 Toyota Camry. The instatement included a four-wheel alignment, which was done. The new tires also came with free rotation for the life of the tires, and I am pretty information about having the tires rotated. For the last seven months, the tires have been very "loud" whether driving on the highway or back roads. There is no vibration. I took the car to the Toyota retailer for some other maintenance and had them check out this issue. They confirmed that the sound is from the tires and not a wheel bearing or anything else. They recommended that I replace the tires with tires that they present.
Well, I took the car to the outfit where I bought the tires. They said the noise was caused from "uneven wear" that could have been caused from the tires being out of alignment and/or from hitting something. (I am a kind of hard driver and drive about 36K per year.) They recommended that I have the tires rotated and have a four-wheel alignment, which I had them do. The owner of the stock said that the loud noise would be around for a while until the tires wear down evenly again. It has only been a week, and I am not expecting results yet, but do you agree with this pr? When driving, the car sounds like a truck. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
