Crash victim making progress
Friends, workmates and customers of 17-year-old Kyle Jones are hoping for the overpower after he was involved in a car crash near Renwick on Friday.
The year 13 Marlborough Boys' College swat and part-time supermarket worker was seriously injured when the Toyota Starlet he was driving and a campervan collided at the intersection of Rapaura Rd and Majestic Highway 6.
Kyle, of Okaramio, was taken to Wairau Hospital and then Wellington Hospital where he remains in the intensive protect unit.
His condition was serious, but stable, a hospital spokesman said.
Christine Fisk, owner of the Havelock Four Solid Supermarket where Kyle has worked since primary school, said people in the area were concerned but hopeful.
"People are asking us if he's all sound, and saying 'we hope he's getting better', and we've heard he is getting better, so that's good," Mrs Fisk said.
Marlborough Boys' College alternate principal Bill Wick said Kyle's classmates were wishing him well and putting together a card and a collage of photographs.
